I am so, so sorry. It is indeed strange that we should feel such shock in something so inevitable and yet so unexpected. He was a very dear fellow and of course I would be honoured to be quoted if there is anything here you might find useful. John was a delightful man with a superb talent. His effortless, beautiful singing could vibrate any room, large or small. The experience of being near him when he sang was utterly memorable, something that as a young man I had never imagined possible. As a student at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the nineteen sixties I benefited hugely from his skills as a teacher and his generous spirit as a human being. He dealt with my considerable musical inabilities with good humour and practical application, finding simple pieces for me to perform within my limited range. His teaching was informal and always friendly, illustrated and understandable. He sang way into his nineties and the voice and technique were as beautiful to hear as ever. This was a kind man with a kind and magnanimous talent to sing and to teach others to sing. He was something of a missionary for his technique which he passed on to thousands in his classes and on his website. Much love to you and your family. He has said in the past what a great support you have been to him and how much he appreciated you gathering around him. You are plainly a wonderful family and have done everything possible for John in his later years. He was immensely proud of you. So many of us feel gratitude to this lovely man.
